in nuce you may share many things with the Lynx.
The wildcat wanders across the same endangered and threatened habitats you like to cycle in. Used to be present in the whole Europe, it roams for long distance and sometimes across the night. It has solitary instinct and, I add, an endless passionate, starving feeling for discovering.
